Dumi Mkokstad’s Latest Release

In the gospel circles he is popularly known as Dumi Mkokstad and this is the name behind many gospel hits on our radios. His real name is Mdumiseni Nzimande but the name Dumi Mkoksdad was more popular with his fans who knew him when he started out as a kid.

He has been back in studio for the past two years hard at work with Mxolisi Mhlongo and Shadrack Ndlhovu working on his latest album. The album was released around July this year and it was surely worth the wait. It is called “Ukhona uThixo”, and just after a few months of its release the album has been in the Top 5 on Music Charts, in the company of Joyous Celebration, Nathi for Buyelekhaya and Andile ka Majola. Dumi wrote most of his songs in this album and that includes the hit song “Safa Naye”. The Ukhona uThixo album is a follow from his previous album called Mbize that he released in 2013.

The 25-year-old from Pietermaritzburg is already a veteran of 16 years in the gospel music industry, Mkokstad got into the industry in 1999 when he was just nine. His debut album Uthando Lungaka, was released a year later. His career highlights include winning song of the year with his single “Mbize” at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards in 2013. He is nominated again this year for song of the year which is a category open to public votes at the this years 7^th SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards 2015 that will be held on the 15^th of November in Durban. His latest album is now in stores.
