Deborah Fraser’s Lifetime Celebration Service in Johannesburg

The passing away of Dr Deborah Fraser has been described a serious blow to gospel music and the arts industry at her memorial service held in Johannesburg (Jozi). The proceedings of the memorial service were lead by Joyous Celebrations Given Matabele and Percy.

The gospel musician, Dr Deborah Fraser’s life was celebrated among her loved ones, fellow musicians and dignitaries in a beautiful memorial service this Thursday, 19th of May. The 56-year-old mother of two and gospel musician passed away in hospital on Sunday.

Family and friends payed their last respects to gospel legend Deborah Fraser at a memorial service held at the House of Treasures Ministries in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Fellow musicians Chicco Thwala, Jabu Hlongwane, Kholeka, Khanyo Mkhize, Lina Ngcobo, Advocate Ike Khumalo, Khanyo were some of those in attendance at her memorial service in Jozi.

Dr. Deborah Fraser was remembered as a nurturer , giving and a caring friend. Friends, family, and fellow gospel artists gathered for the late Fraser’s memorial service at the House of Treasures Ministries in Rispark, Johannesburg.

Music producer Sello Chico Twala recalls her talent thinking about that that he and Deborah were getting ready to record new music together before she fell ill.

In Chicco Thwala’s speech he also lamented saying ” It’s a shame that Deborah Fraser died in a public hospital because couldn’t afford medical aid.” He also recalled how it pained him when he discovered that Deborah Fraser had been selling eggs from the boot of her car around 2019 to make a living for her family.

Adv Ike Khumalo took to the stage disruptively just before the Gauteng Department of Arts in protest for his friend and former colleague #DeborahFraser. In his dramatic speech he asked “Where was the Department of Arts when she was suffering”.

She hails from the KwaMashu township in Durban and will be laid to rest in her home province of KwaZulu-Natal. Dr. Deborah Fraser’s funeral will be held on Saturday the 21st of May at The Station Venue in Durban and she will be buried at Lala Kahle Cemetery as her last resting place, in Hillcrest.
