Zanele Mbokazi Celebrates a Comeback to Radio
After over 20 years later Zanele Mbokazi – Nkambule has returned to the national radio station, Ukhozi FM. The new lineup announcement was officially made by Sbongi Ngcobo who is Ukhozi FM’s business manager this week and they are effective from the 1st of April 2023.
On her comeback, Zanele Mbokazi will take over the 9am-12 midday gospel show called Indumiso on Ukhozi FM Sundays.
The show was temporarily hosted by Thembeka Zondo-Cele who stood in to replace founder of the show; Sbu Buthelezi when his contract was terminated after fraud allegations last year.
Zanele Mbokazi Nkambule’s Media Career
Just to summarize briefly; Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule is a seasoned award winning media personality, speaker, PR guru, a published author, businesswoman and producer.
After completing her studies at then University of Natal (UKZN) she started her career in cooperate at Unilever. She continued her studies and obtained a BA Honors degree in Media and Communications.
Zanele further spread her wings and joined the SABC’s uKhozi FM in 1995, then moved on to television to present shows on SABC 1’s Gospel Gold, Khwezela, Soweto TV and TBN Africa. She also later added a PR Diploma from Damelin to her arsenal to backup her interests.
In 2007 Zanele Mbokazi produced the first Crown Gospel Music Awards as one of the founding members. The Crown Gospel Music Awards celebrated their 15th year of impact in 2022 since inception.
Zanele Mbokazi- Nkambule took on the big role of pastors wife when she remarried in 2011 to now husband Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule of Ambassador’s House Ministries. Recently in 2019 Zanele Mbokazi also became a certified life coach while still running her business Mirror PR and Events.
Indumiso on Ukhozi FM
Zanele Mbokazi will take over the 9am-12 midday praise and worship music show gospel show called Indumiso on Ukhozi FM Sundays morning. We are not sure what new features she will introduce to show yet.
The show would usually include interviews and the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Programmes for the needy communities. The CSI Program that now forms a huge part of the show was introduced by the previous presenter; Sbu Buthelezi and he collaborated with local businessmen to meet needs where possible.
Some referred to it as βchurchβ before church as the show helped listeners look at their daily lives with purpose to make their lives better and for those around them.
According to the station it is not meant to preach like the Unkulunkulu nomuntu Omusha show, but rather they tactfully, speak truth on topics while entertaining with gospel music.
Other changes on the Ukhozi FM 2023 Lineup
Sya Mhlongo Returns to Ukhozi FM
Siya Mhlongo recently joined Thami Ngubeni as co-host of the Sacred Space on their Sunday morning gospel show. Well, Ukhozi FM has also brought back Siyabonga “Sya” Mhlongo from Metro FM.
Many felt Sya Mhlongo was not given the opportunity to shine on the Sacred Space with Thami Ngobeni. However his return to Ukhozi will not be to a gospel show but rather a 20:00 β 00:00 time slot for romantic late-night weekday show.
Unkulunkulu Nomuntu Omusha
Lawyer and radio personality Boniswa Moto will anchor the late evening show Unkulunkulu nomuntu Omusha. This show is so popular for young people and those young at heart are welcomed.
This religious show presents South African youth with thought provoking sermons, religious debates and discussions for youth and about youth. With no focus specific denominations in Christianity , the show also aims at questioning and researching on matters of religion and spirituality.
