Because of Covid rules, only her husband and close family could visit her and she could not perform on stages. But Mpumi says this was when God showed up for her in a powerful way. Her mentors, Bishop Benjamin Dube, Aubrey Peacock, and Matthew, helped her a lot as she became more well-known for her music because of Spirit of Praise. Mpumi draws alot of inspiration from God for blessings, her difficult upbringing, history with sexual assault trauma, strength to forgive and journey with God through the church hurt.
