Many people were surprised and started asking about Siya’s sexuality because he is known as a Christian. Siya has hosted many gospel shows on stations like Ukhozi FM, Gagasi FM, and Metro FM. He has never talked about being gay before.
Local reporters shared that a 29-year-old man, who says he is Siya’s boyfriend, claimed that Siya assaulted and stabbed him in the face. The man said it happened because Siya got jealous. The incident took place in Durban on a Saturday night when they were coming back from a night out drinking in Morningside.
The Alleged Incident
The man told Daily Sun that he and Siya were in a relationship from 2020 to 2021, broke up, but decided to give it another try this year. He said that things got bad when one of their friends blew him kisses, and Siya became jealous. According to him, Siya forced him to call the friend to prove they weren’t dating.
After this, the man said he rushed to the hospital and reported the assault to the police on Sunday, September 1st.
Siya Mhlongo’s Media Career
Siya Mhlongo was born on August 24, 1984, in Empangeni, Northern KwaZulu-Natal. Later, he moved to Durban. He graduated with a diploma in Advertising from Varsity College in 2005. He started his career at Gagasi FM, where he worked as a scriptwriter in the Sales and Production Departments.
In 2008, Siya got a chance to host Soul Sunday, a popular Sunday morning show on Gagasi FM. In 2009, he appeared on national TV as a motivational speaker on One Gospel. Two years later, he became a judge for the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and held that role for five years.
In 2014, Siya joined Ukhozi FM, the biggest radio station in Africa, where he worked on various shows.
