No father Christmas for Christians?

This father Christmas or Santa Claus has hijacked the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ for years. Year in and year out he is made the star of the season but the birth of Jesus and the reason for his birth should be one headlining the festive season. The gospel of Christ clear enough.

I believe the concept of father Christmas was coined by non believer who did not want to celebrate Jesus as is so they created something else to entertain them while Christians go to Church to worship their newborn King of Kings. Business owners and shops everywhere were more than happy to support the idea because it brings a lot more money than any other time in the year and the marketing guys ran with it making it official.

This father christmas and his randiers is as sneaky as what King Herod tried to do when he heard that Jesus was born. He pretended like he was fine with the idea of the birth of Jesus but secretly he wanted to kill him.   We see this in Mathew 2: 9-13 below;

10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. ¹¹ On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. ¹² And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

¹³ When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

 

Let us not kill the significance of the birth of Jesus. Let’s keep Jesus at the centre of all our celebrations. Lets them have their santa and let us keep our Jesus Christ the soon coming King.
