Vuzu AMP (DStv channel 114) launched a brand new eight-part series titled” Preachers’ Kids (PKs)” that started on the 28 August at 7PM.When questioned about the content of the show the channel said “A Widespread preconceptions exist around preachers’ kids, so the show seeks to uncover cultural nuances among these individuals. We highlight their truths and expose the many layers of their complex, yet very entertaining worlds.” I just hope this is not another ‘bazalwane’ or gospel shaming tool and that it really helps to build the society and not just cause confusion.
The show seems to have taken the format of popular American TV shows such as PREACHERS Daughters and Preachers of L.A that give the viewers a peak into the lives of the preachers ,their family and how they live their daily lives when they are not at church.
Amongst the PKs to be featured on the show is Paul Ralekgolela the son of the Tent crusade & Televangelist Ralekgolela from Johannesburg. The youngest daughter Pinky “small” Shange of Apostle Shange of Tehilah Worship Centre International in Richards Bay is also featured and said it is sometimes difficult being a PK she said “There are good and bad parts. The bad part is the expectations of what they want you to be, how they want you to live”.
