Legendary South African gospel artist Sipho Makhabane has put together a choir of young people from the Mpumalanga Province. Their first single called “Akhona Amandla” by Mpumalanga Praise Vol 1 featuring Sipho Makhabane has been topping gospel charts and getting alot of radio play putting Mpumalanga on the map.We have seen Seswati Afro pop songs take South Africa by storm, it would be great to see the same with SeSwati gospel songs.
The album and DVD was recorded Β late last year at the House on Hill church and realsed around April this year. TheΒ choir is called Mpumalanga Praise and the project was done in collaboration with the department of Arts and Culture in Mpumalanga and Zipho Makhabane ‘s label called Big Fish Music.Β
Sipho Makhabene held auditions all around Mpumalanga looking for talented young people but particularly unemployed youth. Their album is available online at music shops around South Γfrican. Mpumalanga praise will be recording their second live album on the 9 September 2017.
