
When are the Easter Holidays in South Africa?
The popular Easter Weekend starts on Friday the 15th of April 2022 to the 18th of April 2022 in South Africa this year. These public holidays are popularly celebrated and themed with the Easter bunny & eggs decorations which many have become accustomed to all around the world.
Most importantly millions of people around the world who observe this faith based holiday celebrate the Passover and also commemorate the death and resurrection of the Chosen One, Jesus Christ.

What happens around the Easter Weekend?
For some this is also a good time to travel and meet up with family, other brotherens and friends. This is a time known for an increase in travel and high traffic on the roads on the main highways in Gauteng to Limpopo and KwaZulu Natal provinces. During this Weekend many churches plan what is dubbed the Easter Convention or Easter Conference where denominations congregate together across the country for this holy holiday. Preceding this weekend there is also Ash Sunday, Palm Sunday and then the seven words spoken by Jesus on Cross are shared on the Good Friday, Sunday is dubbed the Resurrection Sunday.
More about the Passover
Passover is derived from the event when the God passed over the houses of the Israelite in the times of Moses and spared them from the death of their firstborn (Exodus 12:13). Jesus Christ is now our Passover according to (I Corinthians 5:7). Like a lamb without blemish, Jesus was offered as a sin sacrifice. He died for our sins as the ultimate act of love for humanity.
The Passover can be found both in the Old and New Testament on Exodus 23:15-18; Leviticus 23:4-8; Numbers 9:2-5; Deuteronomy 16:1-8 and in the new Testament the Passover is mentioned in Mark 14:12; Luke 22:7; Acts 12:3; I Corinthians 5:8
