Gospel Artists Shine at the SAMA28 Nominations

Congratulations to all the nominees for the 28th South African Music Awards (SAMAs) which are the biggest awards in the country that accommodate all music genres.

Ncebakizi Msomi received two nominations at SAMAs for her debut solo gospel album titled “The 34th Psalm”

Of course our gospel artists also got their shine among other genres at the #SAMA28 announcement held at The Garden Venue Boutique Hotel in Randburg. The SAMAs official ceremony will take place on the 31st of July.

Gospel artists such as Zaza, Jumbo, Nuz Voices of Joy, Puleng March, Takie Ndou, Paul K, and DJ Cleo featuring Bucy Radebe were among the nominees for this years SAMAs. Ncebakizi Msomi got two nods at SAMAs for her debut solo gospel album as having been nominated for Best New Comers and Best Contemporary Faith Album.

The SAMAs are an annual event that honors the country’s music talent in key categories and are organized by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).

There are 3 categories for gospel music at the SAMAs, here are the gospel nominees :

Best Traditional Faith Music Album

  • Paul K – In the Beginning
  • Jumbo – Vela Nkosi
  • Takie Ndou – The Great Revival
  • Zaza – Shrubs of Chronicle (Live)

Best Contemporary Faith Album


  • Thabelo – My Heart to Him
  • Kingdmusic – Denga
  • Pulane Maphari – Sacrificial Worship (Live)
  • Lauren Cullen – Find Me Singing
  • Ncebakazi Msomi – The 34th Psalm

Best African Indigenous Faith Music Album

  • Isaac & The Might Messengers – Ba Bosiu
  • JTG Gospel Choir – Re Kopa Ge Wena Ramasedi
  • Nuz Voices of Joy – Similapha Nkosi
  • The Harmony Singers Artist Development – Ore Etele Mohloeki
