If you have ever had the pleasure of having an evangelist minister to you then surely you have heard a version of this analogy before, it goes as follows
There was a this poor gogo who use to attend every service at church and every time when the pastor is preaching she would stand up and shout “Hallelujah, Praise the Lord” at the top of her voice. Now the some of the congregation started getting annoyed at her continuous actions. One day after church, one of them asked her to stop shouting like that all the time and promised to buy her a nice new pair of shoes if she can just kept quite during the service.
So when the next church service came the church was fully packed and the preacher was preaching powerfully. This gogo was there sitting at her usual spot but many people surprise that the sermon was almost over but they had not heard anything from her. The pastor went on preaching and the gogo suddenly got up from her seat and shouted at the top of her voice
“Shoes or no shoes, “Hallelujah, Praise the Lord”
Sometimes life puts us in positions similar to that of this gogo. Where the world, situations and even sometimes people put us in position where they want you to compromise the way you choose to worship God. They look at your situation and wonder why do worship the way you do when things are not even going well with your life. Some even wonder if you are not crazy to still believe in God in the times we live in. There is a scripture in the bible where we see Hannah praying at the temple daily and on a particular day she poured out her heart to God so much that even the Priest at the temple thought that she might be drunk when he saw her. Hannah was desperately praying for child and God granted her and God answered her prayers. This can be found in 1 Samuel 9-13.
If she had been scared of what people might say if she wept and poured out her heart like that she would of missed an opportunity to be honest with God in the process miss her blessing. Sometimes other people may not understand why we worship the way we do, why we give offering of so much money, why we sing so loudly, why we pray every chance we get, why we always read our bibles, why we always listen to gospel songs, why we talk the way we do or why we love the Lord Jesus Christ so much. That is okay, because maybe they don’t need God the way that you do, they don’t see God the way that you do, maybe God has not manifested himself the way he has to you yet therefore they can’t understand your type of worship. Don’t compromise it.
