Messages of hope in a pandemic
βWe are amped and excited to be celebrating gospel music this year. 2020 was our first virtual awards and embracing the new world order.
This year we have adjusted to the era of virtual awards. We are looking forward to a spectacular event that recognizes the yearβs best performances, honours gospel icons, showcase heavenly voices and acknowledges instrumental individuals that fuel our faith and glorify Godβ, says Zanele Mbokazi.

After a challenging 2020, where we spent most of the year under lockdown, thanks to Covid-19 restrictions during the scourge of a global pandemic, the entertainment industry took a knock. However, through the messages of hope embedded in gospel music, many held on dearly to their faith and seek comfort in the music.
2021 comes with a fraction of hope and calm as the vaccination process rolls out around the world.
2021 Theme and Event recording
This yearβs awards running theme is Hope #ChristOurHopeOfGlory, a fitting tribute given all that we have faced as a country.
Contrary to the massive glamorous red carpet event ushered by glittering ball gowns, feathers and tuxedos, the 14th Crown Gospel Music Awards will once again be confined to a studio pre-recording with a limited guest on-site to observe covid safety protocols and ensure the safety of the artists and Gospel fans.
Award Categories
Gospel Music fans will be treated to an entertaining awards show with winners selected in 29 categories with the return of a significant Salt Award, bestowed to the trailblazer who has done well exceedingly well by playing an influential role in society. This is an award that was last awarded to Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng in 2019.
βWe hope the Gospel Music fraternity will yield the call and submit their soulful sounds of praise to stand a chance to be crowned the winner of the 14th Annual Gospel Music awardsβ concludes, Mbokazi.
