Siyanqoba On Composing Music

Commenting on the process behind the music Siyanqoba shared saying, “All of my life’s experiences, inspirations, and triumphs have been infused into this project in the hopes of bringing a love culture, joy and some sense of peace to the many who have an acquired taste for a soulful, African and jazzy music feel.”

Songs with titles like “iLobolo,” an African practice known as the “Customary Law of Marriage” in South Africa, are part of the album’s infused feel.

“My first album is made up of years of impromptu musical pieces that would emerge during random
jam sessions, project rehearsals, personal studio time, and even while driving. In my brain, I’d jam to a song phrase, which I’d then translate into a melody and record it, only to have an amazing song as the end-product”, shared Siyanqoba.
